His hair occasionally has bright blonde streaks shot through it from when he’s been out in the sun for long periods. He’s got a great build that he keeps in shape constantly, almost religiously. Other than slightly more pronounced canines, there are no other distinguishing marks. PB: Thor Knai Personality: Generally, Jason is a nice guy who doesn’t like to see people being picked on. Despite a slightly bookish mentality, he was well-liked, and even became popular once he joined the football team. He is bright and witty and he is kind of the quiet guy who can be funny but, most of the time he can just glare at you and you'll shut up. Being from a pack, he’s fiercely loyal to his friends, and works hard to tamp down the one part of his mind that says humans are food. At times, this inner disturbance will cause him to lash out unexpectedly, but he will generally come back when calm to apologize. Background: Jason’s mother was a lycan, coyote specifically, and her pack was firmly planted in Pittsburgh, PA. She mated with one of the members of the pack and eventually conceived a son. Near to the end of her pregnancy while she was out walking one evening, she was attacked by a vampire and turned. The attack left her weak and extremely wounded. She managed to make it back to the pack’s house, but so much damage was done, even the pack’s healers were concerned for her and the baby. The shock of the attack sent her into premature labor. Her son was born safe and supposedly healthy, but the trauma from both the attack and the birthing proved to be too much for the lycan mother. Just before her death, she managed to secure the promise from the pack’s alpha that her son would remain a member of the pack and be cared for. Thus, Jason was born a dhampir, half vampire and half lycan. His mother rose the next night as a vampire, and, heeding the call of her sire, disappeared into the night. His pack lived together in one huge house in the wealthier part of the city. Every month on the full moon, they would drive out to the forests in northern Pennsylvania where they could turn and run free as coyotes in safety. Come morning, they would awaken in a den that had been claimed as their own and return to the city to go about their daily lives. They lived in the same house together, treating each other as family. Jason’s dual heritage didn’t begin to show until he was several years old, and though the pack wanted to be rid of him, they honored their promise to the mother. He remained part of the pack, though he was raised by two members away from the pack’s main house. He grew up strong and agile, and knowing why he never felt completely welcome. In order to try and help Jason to learn to mingle with the normal community, his “parents” placed him in public school and encouraged him to try out for sports. He found a love for the sports, especially football, and practiced daily. Despite the emotional upheaval at home, Jason was friendly and outgoing to everyone he met in school and made many friends. Eventually, he went to Pittsburgh Allerdice High School. He was well-liked among his peers, and studied hard to make good grades. His freshman year, he tried out for football and made receiver on the team. He was so happy to finally have a place, a family where he felt he was welcome. As any typical high school student, he had his fun, went on dates and had relationships, but when he left the school grounds, he was being tutored by his pack on how to control his instincts and abilities. It was far more difficult for him than normal, but he tried. Come his senior year in 2004, he was recognized for his talent in football and was granted a football scholarship to Boston College. To challenge himself while playing at the college level, he majored in business. His college career went without any major incidents, until his last semester. Outside his apartment there was a serious multiple-car accident. His roommate was one of the first on the scene, as he was a licensed EMT. Jason, being a helpful sort, rushed out to assist, but the amount of blood spread across the pavement snapped his senses. Knowing he was about to lose himself to the bloodlust, Jason fled the scene. He didn’t manage to run far enough from civilization though, and caught a woman on the outskirts of town, killing her to sate his hunger. He woke in a dark alley hours later, with the corpse beside him. Visibly shaken, he made his way back to the campus and put in calls to leave the school, though graduation was a month away. Jason had heard from his pack about a school not far from Boston that could help him control what he was. Packing his belongings into his car, he drove to the gates of Tiberius J Swann Detention Facility, hoping for help. Abilities: Because he was born a lycan, Jason has the distinct advantage of being able to shift quickly and effortlessly at will. Being of mixed blood, he can walk in sunlight. Genetically, he favors his lycan heritage more, meaning he is as agile, and strong as any other lycan. He can turn someone into a lycan when he’s shifted, but not a vampire, because dhamphirs can't turn anyone. Due to his vampire legacy, his lifespan is up to 600 years. He can sense vampires and has an ingrained lust to kill them. Weaknesses: While his mixed heritage gives some distinct advantages, it also has its drawbacks. Jason is extremely vulnerable to holy items/ground and silver. While he can walk in sunlight, he is more apt to earn sunburn than a human. Therefore he must wear sunscreen constantly. While it isn’t necessary for him to feed on live donors like his vampiric father, he does eat a lot of extremely rare steaks. When he is in sight of blood for prolonged periods, his vampiric tendencies become more volatile and difficult to control, leading to bloodlust that must be sated. If a Dhampir does succumb to the bloodlust he is highly attracted to blood from a living creature - or one who has been very recently slain (i.e., hasn't yet reached room temperature). While not ultimately satisfying, he is able to curb this blood lust by sucking on donor packets from a blood bank, or draining a few rats even though the bloodlust urges him to prey on humankind or large mammals.
